Personal Assistance to Individuals, Lower Austria

Personal Assistance for Individuals, Lower Austria continuously provides financial grants for people with disabilities to ensure individual therapeutic and socio-educational services as well as medical treatments. The focus is on specialized therapy services and educational support forms – for example, therapeutic vaulting – which would otherwise not be covered by statutory or contractual benefits. Funding is provided in the form of a one-time or recurring grant, awarded under § 34 of the Lower Austrian Social Assistance Act (NÖ SHG). This promotes participation in social life and facilitates access to professionally supervised measures, without entitlement to similar benefits from other institutions.

Eligible for funding are all persons with disabilities residing or staying in Lower Austria within the meaning of § 24 NÖ-SHG, who hold Austrian citizenship or are considered equivalent. A prerequisite for a grant is proof that no other benefit claims exist. Applications can be submitted in writing at any time to the respective municipality, district administrative authority, or directly to the state government. Eligible expenses exclusively include specialized therapeutic services, socio-educational measures, and medical treatments aimed at individual support. Through an uncomplicated application process and needs-based grant allocation, the program makes an important contribution to supporting people with disabilities and strengthens their self-determination and quality of life.
