Description
The project “LU can learn” by the Jugend.Hafen Foundation supports adolescents and young adults in the regions of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate who do not have a school-leaving vocational qualification. The aim of the cooperative initiative is the targeted preparation for the non-student examination (subsequent secondary school leaving certificate) in small learning groups and, if desired, in one-on-one instruction. In addition to the subjects German, Mathematics, and Social Studies, supplementary subjects such as Biology and Geography are offered. A team of volunteers and professional educators ensures continuous socio-pedagogical support and assists with personality development, reflection on individual life goals, as well as practical days in partner companies. A special focus lies on strengthening social skills, psychological support, and intensive preparation for entering the workforce, so that participants not only obtain the qualification but can also be sustainably integrated into the labor market.
The project is funded as ongoing grant support, which is exclusively available to non-profit organizations and public institutions. The target group is especially adolescents and young adults residing in Ludwigshafen or Mannheim who are motivated to obtain their vocational qualification and seek needs-oriented support. Prerequisites include the lack of a school-leaving certificate, willingness to participate actively, and fulfillment of regional funding requirements. Personal motivation of the participants plays a central role in the selection process. Inquiries and applications are possible at any time; the official project start is mid-March. The Jugend.Hafen Foundation invites non-profit organizations to permanently include this offer in their educational portfolio, thereby creating long-term prospects for disadvantaged youth.
