Description
The program supports research projects throughout Austria in which scientific institutions collaborate with young people and interested citizens to address current questions using citizen science methods. Since its inception in October 2012, grants have been continuously awarded as long as funding is available. Recipients of the funding include educational institutions, public bodies, companies, and non-profit organizations aiming to closely link research & innovation with science, education, and training. The focus is on participatory collaboration between scientists, students, and society to gain new insights while simultaneously raising public awareness of scientific topics.
For a successful application, innovative research projects with substantial involvement of young people and a clear application of citizen science methods are required. Evaluation is based on the degree of innovation, level of participation, and methodological implementation. Interested researchers, students, and committed citizens can submit proposals without being bound to fixed deadlines. The processing and content supervision are handled by OeAD-GmbH – Agency for Education and Internationalization. By providing non-repayable grants, the program offers diverse opportunities to collaboratively shape scientific work and sustainably promote cooperation between institutions and society.
