Description

The Church Foundation for Art and Cultural Heritage in the Church Province of Saxony specifically supports the conservation and restoration of sacred art and cultural heritage in Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Funding is provided to public institutions as well as non-profit organizations of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany, such as parish councils, congregations, church districts, or supporting associations commissioned by them. The focus is on monument preservation measures for altars, pulpits, baptismal fonts, paintings, and stained glass windows of church buildings. The foundation grants project-related subsidies to secure medieval to modern artworks for liturgical use and cultural public relations in the long term and to preserve them for future generations.

Applications can be submitted until June 30 of the current year and apply to the following year. A prerequisite is membership in a church body of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany, compliance with the funding guidelines, and proof that the measure has not yet begun. Among other documents, the application must include: copies of existing approval notices from other funders, meaningful photographs, a statement from the responsible art heritage consultants at the regional church office, the church resolution regarding the measure, a detailed description of the measure, a cost and financing plan, the monument protection approval or agreement, as well as two comparable cost estimates from professionally qualified providers. After a positive decision, the call for funds will be issued by March 1 at the latest of the calendar year following the funding year, accompanied by a usage verification form for accounting and documentation of the project’s success.
