Project Funding by the Nature Conservation Foundation of the Emsland District

The project funding of the Nature Conservation Foundation of the Emsland District supports initiatives based in Lower Saxony that are dedicated to nature and landscape conservation, biodiversity, and environmental education. Aiming to advance renaturation, species protection measures, and peatland and climate protection projects, the funding is directed at municipalities, associations, organizations, and private individuals with a seat or activity in Emsland. Forward-looking concepts for energy efficiency, climate protection, and education for sustainable development are also supported. The funds are continuously available as non-repayable grants and enable the planning and implementation of projects not yet started. In accordance with the foundation’s statutes, the financing covers planning costs, construction measures, and public relations for nature conservation projects of various scales.

An informal, written application forms the basis for approval. Essential requirements include compliance with the foundation’s statutes, the project not having been carried out yet, and a proven connection to the Emsland District. For submission, a meaningful project description, information on construction management, a sustainability concept, and a detailed financing plan including own and, if applicable, third-party funds should be provided. Evaluation criteria particularly include statutory conformity and sustainability aspects. With this straightforward procedure, interested parties can submit their documents at any time and thus contribute to strengthening ecologically valuable habitats in Emsland.
