Description

The project funding of the Social City Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations and public institutions that develop innovative initiatives for equal opportunities in the 13 Dortmund action areas. The core objective is to empower disadvantaged population groups in economically and socially challenged neighborhoods and enable them to help themselves. Funding is provided for personnel and material expenses, acquisition of items, as well as construction and renovation measures. Micro-projects up to €1,000 also receive start-up financing. The funds are granted as time-limited subsidies without fixed application deadlines. Prerequisites include recognition of non-profit status or corporate status, a project location within the action area, and a co-financing contribution usually amounting to at least 20% of the requested sum. Follow-up applications are possible, while permanent financing is excluded.

The selection criteria include multi-target strategies, effectiveness, sustainability, as well as innovation and model character. Applicants must submit a project description (maximum four pages), a detailed cost and financing plan, as well as evidence of existing grant approvals and tax exemption. Upon positive decision, disbursement is made cashless in installments, provided the funds are drawn within 18 months. A final proof of use and a factual final report must be submitted no later than three months after project completion. Through the combination of concept development, financial support, and professional exchange, the Foundation contributes to sustainably promoting social infrastructure in Dortmund and setting impulses for sustainable neighborhood development.
