Description
The funding program for rail freight infrastructure in Brandenburg is aimed at municipal authorities as well as public and private operators of rail infrastructure. The goal is to strengthen intermodal freight transport through targeted railway investments and the development of digital concepts for better connectivity of logistics centers, ports, and multimodal transport hubs. The state of Brandenburg grants subsidies of up to 80% for structural infrastructure measures and up to 90% for concepts and feasibility studies. In addition to the construction and reconstruction of track facilities, planning services for efficient IT and communication structures in rail freight transport are also funded. The thematic focus includes Smart Cities & Regions, mobility, digitization, as well as infrastructure and urban development projects.
For application submission, the measure must be registered by June 30 of the previous year to be included in the annual funding program. Proof of economic and legal viability, ownership of the approved railway areas, as well as the commitment to make the infrastructure available openly, transparently, and without discrimination are required. Eligible expenses include construction services, land acquisition, planning services, and digital infrastructure measures. For the application, among other documents, registration and application forms, amendment requests to the grant notification, fund request documents, as well as interim and final reports must be submitted. The consistent involvement of all transport modes and securing complementary financing form the basis for successful implementation.
