Description
The school ski course support initiative in Carinthia enables children and young people from large families to participate carefree in their school snow sports weeks. For this purpose, the state of Carinthia provides complete ski sets – skis, bindings, boots, and poles – as well as snowshoes free of charge for students and teachers. The acquisition, storage, and transport of the sports equipment are handled by the Social Enterprises Carinthia (SBK). As an ongoing funding offer, the initiative aims to eliminate financial barriers and enable the shared experience on the slopes for all middle school and lower secondary academic track classes. The costs are covered through a one-time grant, without families having to pay any additional fees.
Particularly interested are schools representing students from large households: applications are submitted through the respective educational institution using a dedicated form. A prerequisite is proof that the participants belong to middle school or lower secondary academic track and indeed come from large families. Submissions must be made before the deadlines set by the state government; the program runs indefinitely. Thus, the school ski course support initiative makes an important contribution to equal opportunities in sports and leisure and strengthens the school community through shared experiences in the snow. Interested schools can obtain all necessary documents from the Department of Society and Integration of the Office of the Carinthian State Government.
