Description
The Klaus Höchstetter Foundation annually funds three nationwide holiday programs for 11- to 16-year-olds: In the adventure camp at Großvenediger, participants experience canyoning, climbing, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities under the expert guidance of educators and sports instructors. At the North Sea/Baltic Sea camp, scientific discoveries meet marine formation: mudflat hikes, visits to the GEOMAR Aquarium, and excursions along the North and Baltic Seas provide direct access to the marine environment. Special attention is given to the one-week sailing camp, which is offered in cooperation with social institutions specifically for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. On sailing yachts, participants learn the basics of seamanship while simultaneously strengthening their team and communication skills across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
All programs aim to promote self-confidence and social skills as well as support personal development through shared experiences. The foundation covers 100% of the camp fees, making participation independent of financial circumstances. Applications are accepted continuously; specific dates are announced under the “News” section on the website.
