Description
The funding program of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen supports recognized Bremen sports organizations in measures related to amateur and competitive sports as well as the construction, expansion, and management of sports facilities. Grants can be applied for, among other things, for the awarding of honorary prizes, disabled sports, remuneration for trainers, and sports programs for non-members. Additionally, funding is available for participation in regional and supra-regional championships as well as for special programs, such as swimming sports initiatives. The grants also cover procurement costs for sports equipment (in exceptional cases) and investments in new construction, expansion, conversion, and renovation of sports facilities. A prerequisite is the submission of a detailed cost and financing plan, a project description, and the application form by January 31 of a given year to secure municipal funds. State funds are claimed through the Bremen State Sports Federation before the start of measures.
Only non-profit clubs and associations whose trainers are committed to democratic values and do not make racist, xenophobic, or violence-glorifying statements are eligible for funding. Applicants must be registered as recognized Bremen organizations within the meaning of the Sports Promotion Act and be able to demonstrate planned projects in the field of amateur sports. The amount of the grants is based on the scope of the requested measure and is approved by the Senator for the Interior and Sports. Through the combination of municipal and state funds, a broad spectrum of support is created for sports clubs and associations in Bremen, generating sustainable impulses for the Bremen sports landscape and strengthening participation in sports for all population groups.
