Description
The funding initiative “Standards for Quantum Technologies – Coordination and Support Action (CSA)” supports the coordination and implementation of standards and technical specifications for quantum technologies at the EU level. It targets companies (especially SMEs and start-ups), research institutes, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations, as well as European and international standardization bodies aiming to advance standards for quantum computing, communication, sensing, and control systems. With a budget of up to €1,000,000 and a funding rate of 100%, the action finances personnel, material, travel, as well as workshop and consultation costs. Applicants from EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, associated countries, or OECD states must demonstrate proven expertise in standardization activities and the ability to coordinate transnationally and engage stakeholders. Projects must submit a clear work program with milestones, risk assessment, and a consortium list. The focus lies on interoperability, quality, and reliability of quantum technology systems, as well as on strengthening Europe’s leadership role in the global standardization landscape.
Expected outcomes include EU-relevant pre-standards for hardware-software interfaces, sensing protocols, control systems, and benchmarking methods. Additionally, the consortium will develop guidelines, training modules, and best-practice recommendations for the rapid implementation and acceptance of the developed standards. Submission of project descriptions, financial plans, and consortium lists with PICs is possible until 15 April 2026 via the EU Funding & Tenders Portal. Participating actors benefit from 100% grant financing, extensive professional networking, and high visibility within the European standardization network. This funding thus represents an attractive opportunity to define pioneering standards for quantum technologies and secure Europe’s technological sovereignty.
