Description
The Bürgerstiftung Norden annually awards an outstanding volunteer engagement prize endowed with €1,000 in the former district of Norden. Private individuals, non-profit organizations, interest groups, or associations that contribute through their activities to social cohesion, democracy, or social concerns are eligible as award recipients. A prerequisite for a successful submission is proven volunteer work in the former district of Norden as well as a brief, meaningful justification of the proposal, which must be submitted by September 15 of each year. Printed materials, construction projects, and adult education projects are excluded from funding. The decision is made by a jury consisting of members of the board and advisory council, taking into account the quality, form, and regional relevance of the proposals.
The Bürgerstiftung Norden prize not only honors the achievements already made but also promotes further initiatives with both idealistic and monetary effects. Awarded recipients are encouraged to allocate the grant in accordance with the foundation’s statutes to a charitable purpose or to realize future projects that serve as exemplary models. The certificates are designed by local artists and presented in November at the community center. Interested initiators can download the application guidelines as a PDF and submit their proposal on time to receive recognition for exemplary civic engagement.
