Description
Endowed professorships in Styria promote the development of pioneering research fields at public universities through the indefinite funding of outstanding scientists. This grant attracts top researchers from universities, universities of applied sciences, and teacher training colleges to establish interdisciplinary thematic areas that are intended to be incorporated into the performance agreements of the respective institution in the long term. The state government covers the employment costs, thereby creating ideal conditions for the founding of new research groups as well as the strengthening of existing core competencies. Application deadlines are ongoing; current dates and application documents are available on the website of Science Promotion Styria.
Only public universities with a public call for applications for the professorship and a transparent selection process are eligible for funding. The main objective of the measure is to attract internationally recognized experts to strengthen Styria as an innovation location and to sustainably expand the scientific offerings. The indefinite call facilitates strategic planning of new professorships for the universities, while an interdisciplinary approach is expressly desired. Interested institutions can request the award requirements at any time and submit applications flexibly. This instrument not only generates interdisciplinary synergies but also provides long-term impulses for research and teaching in the region.
