Description
The MICHAEL FOUNDATION supports nationwide the qualification of non-physician medical and social professionals in Epilepsy Specialist Assistance (EFA) and Epilepsy Specialist Counseling (EFB). The twelve-month continuing education program is based on a blended learning concept with in-person modules, internships, and online phases, targeting nursing professionals, medical assistants, social workers, therapists, educators, and psychologists working in clinics, practices, outpatient clinics, or facilities specializing in epilepsy. The goal is to expand competencies in epileptological counseling, multiprofessional cooperation, and methodological-didactic skills to competently support people with epilepsy and their relatives. The MICHAEL FOUNDATION generally covers 50% of the course fees for EFA and EFB as well as up to €240 proportionally for the basic course and up to €225 for the advanced course of an epilepsy training program. Travel and accommodation costs are not eligible for funding.
Funding is provided to private individuals with completed training in health or social services; a minimum professional experience in the epilepsy-specific field is recommended. Applications must be received by the foundation no later than two months before the course start; funding can commence from January 26, 2026. To apply, a simple cover letter describing the workplace, a curriculum vitae, and an employer’s certificate confirming permanent employment must be submitted. Selection is made excluding legal recourse. Funded participants commit to submitting a written report on the implementation of the acquired knowledge nine months after completing the training. Further details on dates and application formalities are available directly from the MICHAEL FOUNDATION.
