Description

The Scholarship Programs of the State of Styria support university research and educational initiatives in Styria by providing grants for scholarship projects. Since May 15, 2013, this permanent funding measure has enabled university institutions to strengthen students, post-docs, and scientific staff in their academic endeavors. The awards are made within the framework of separate, annually announced calls, in which funds from the regional budget for research, innovation, and education are allocated. The aim is to promote excellent research, intensify international cooperation, and sustainably support early-career researchers.

Eligible for funding are national and international universities as well as their members – students, post-docs, and scientific staff – provided the projects comply with the requirements of the current call. Applications can be submitted at any time within the respective call periods; no end date for the funding measure is planned. The administration and professional supervision are carried out by the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government, Department 12 – Economy, Tourism, Science and Research in Graz. The evaluation of applications is based on scientific quality, innovation potential, and regional added value. Upon positive decision, the approved grants are paid directly to the funding institutions. Interested universities and project leaders can find detailed guidelines, deadlines, and reporting requirements in the respective current call texts.
