Description
The Willy Scharnow Foundation for Tourism offers nationwide study trips & seminars that provide practical continuing education for tourism professionals in travel agencies and tour operators. Target groups include agents in product management and sales as well as owners or managing directors working at least 18 hours per week and aged at least 18 years. Prerequisites for funding are an employment relationship of at least three months, proof of current employment (e.g., agent ID card or certificate of activity), and good English skills. The training trips are characterized by a compact on-site seminar concept and promote professional exchange as well as familiarization with tourism products. The selection of participants is made after the registration deadline by the voluntary board in coordination with partners such as airlines or tourist offices.
Registration for the funding measures is done daily via the Foundation’s online study trip calendar. Interested tourism professionals can view available places and registration deadlines for selected destinations there and register directly. In addition to proof of employment, additional documents such as questionnaires or training certificates must be submitted depending on the trip. The Foundation grants a subsidy towards the participation fees, with the exact amount varying depending on the study trip. Through thematic focus on countries or regions – for example, partner country Morocco – participants gain in-depth insights into market potentials and tourism-specific features. The Willy Scharnow Foundation’s study trips thus open up new perspectives for travel professionals in their daily advisory practice and strengthen competitiveness in the tourism industry.
