Description

The EU-funded coordination and support project aims to develop and validate evidence-based, sustainable nutrition concepts for people aged 65 and over. Taking into account social and health risk factors, nutritional recommendations are created for seniors in care facilities as well as for older individuals living alone with an increased risk of malnutrition. Using interdisciplinary approaches from health research, social sciences, and economics, the specific nutritional needs are mapped and concepts for easy-to-chew and swallow food products with functional nutrient enrichments are developed. In parallel, awareness-raising and prevention campaigns accompany the programs, support post-recovery measures, and provide training materials for professionals and care staff. The project considers EU strategies on demographic aging and links the EU Food 2030 framework objectives with the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights as well as the “Green Paper on Ageing.”

As a HORIZON Coordination and Support Action, a funding amount of €2,000,000 at 100% funding rate is available. Legal entities from EU Member States and associated countries can participate as a consortium with at least three independent partners from different countries. Eligible costs include personnel expenses, material costs, and travel expenses. Evaluation criteria are innovation content, methodological quality, and impact potential. Applications must be submitted electronically by no later than 14.04.2026; project start is possible from 14.01.2026. Required application documents include a project description, a financing plan, a lump-sum budget table, and CVs of key personnel.
