Description

The day structure in Vienna offers a wide-ranging social day care service for individuals with intellectual and/or multiple disabilities as well as mental illness, aged 15 to 65 years, who currently or permanently cannot be integrated into the open labor market. Recognized institutions provide high-level professional support focusing on basic development, creative group activities, work-like performance offerings, and qualification measures. The goal is to maintain and further develop individual abilities as well as to create meaningful daily routines. Activities generally take place on weekdays within a five-day week framework. Participants receive recognition for their performance (e.g., pocket money or a bonus), which is stipulated in the care contracts with the institutions.

The funding is granted in the form of a subsidy covering 70% of the costs, while a personal contribution amounting to 30% of the care-related monetary benefits must be made. Subsidies are unlimited in duration and can be applied for at any time at the Fonds Soziales Wien. Eligible are persons with main residence in Vienna, Austrian citizenship, or an equivalent residence status. Consultation and needs assessment by the Fonds Soziales Wien or BBRZ is a prerequisite; similar services from third parties must not be received. For the application, among other documents, an official photo ID, birth certificate, proof of citizenship or equivalence, disability status, and, if applicable, authorization of representation and declaration of commitment must be submitted in copy. The decision on funding is made following professional assessment, and subsidies are paid directly to the recognized institution. This ensures that the day structure remains an effective support and meaningful daily arrangement for people with disabilities.
