Description
The talent promotion program of the Sports Foundation NRW is aimed at dedicated young athletes from North Rhine-Westphalia who strive for top performances in Olympic, Paralympic, Deaflympic, or World Games disciplines while simultaneously pursuing a dual career in sports and education. Private applicants residing in NRW are granted a monthly allowance of 250 euros, which will increase to 300 euros starting January 1, 2026. The selection is based on verifiable achievements in youth competitive sports, academic or university engagement, as well as a pronounced potential for personal development. For the application, a fully completed application form and a current performance record (results, rankings) must be submitted. Applications can be submitted until June 30, 2026; supplementary deadlines for scholarship and boarding school place funding end on January 31 and April 30, 2026, respectively.
With this funding, the foundation not only supports the financial resources of talented athletes but also provides guidance through educational and coaching programs to promote emotional competence and mental strength. Participants benefit from individual impulses for career planning and the opportunity to establish valuable contacts within an alumni network. The goal is to support young athletes holistically, sustainably strengthen their sporting ambitions, and accompany them on the path to role model functions at the state and international professional levels.
