Description
The European Union’s “Teaming Synergies” program promotes the sustainable networking and strengthening of already established as well as future Teaming Centres of Excellence (CoE) in Widening countries. Federal, regional, and municipal research institutions as well as universities from eligible Widening states, which have already acted as Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe Teaming coordinators and possess expertise in establishing and maintaining CoEs, can apply for 100% funding of up to €7 million for projects with a duration of up to 60 months. The objective is to permanently secure the international competitiveness of these centers: thematic cluster formation, capacity building, networking events, and a digital platform are intended to foster joint initiatives and multilateral cooperation, share resources efficiently, and leverage synergies.
The selected consortia will be evaluated based on the criteria of excellence, impact, and quality and efficiency of implementation. Eligible expenses include project management, cluster operation, training and workshops, development of an online networking platform, organization of conferences and matchmaking events, as well as capacity building for knowledge valorization. Through strategic partnerships and additional activities—from training to entrepreneurship support—the European research and innovation system in the Widening countries is to be strengthened. Submission takes place in a single-stage procedure via the EU portal. The deadline for funding applications runs from the launch on 23 April 2026 until 24 September 2026. Consortia benefit from a 100% grant rate, with no own contribution required. Through this funding, the Commission makes a key contribution to reforming the European Research Area and closing innovation disparities.
