Description
The Hopp Foundation supports public and non-profit schools in Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, and Rhineland-Palatinate with targeted grants for computer science equipment and tablets. The aim of the initiative is to better integrate the subject of computer science into everyday school life and to sustainably establish media education concepts. Funding is provided for kits such as Lego Spike Prime, mBots, or Calliope, microcontrollers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, 3D printers, as well as VR headsets and appropriate software licenses. The goal is to create creative, interactive learning environments where students can independently program, develop their first apps, or work on robotics projects. A prerequisite is a pedagogical-technical concept that clearly explains the use of these materials in teaching and is complemented by innovative teaching or project ideas.
Eligible to apply are public and non-profit schools within the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region that already offer computer science or media education programs for children and adolescents. Funding for basic IT equipment (PCs, laptops, projectors, interactive whiteboards) is excluded. Applications are accepted only twice a year: from March to the end of April and from September to the end of October. In addition to the fully completed application form, a pedagogical-technical concept and detailed teaching or project ideas must be submitted. Applications outside these deadlines cannot be considered. This funding program supports digital future skills and helps to inspire students for computer science and prepare them for future challenges.
