Description
Under the Participation and Cohesion Directive, the State of Lower Saxony supports projects that promote the equal participation of immigrants and social cohesion. In the thematic areas of migration, engagement for democracy, education & training, education, as well as social affairs and work & social affairs, emphasis is placed on mutual appreciation, acceptance of cultural and religious diversity, gender equality, and the values of the free democratic basic order. Labor market-related qualification and educational participation constitute further funding priorities. Projects focusing on combating antisemitism or racism receive special attention. Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant of up to 80% of eligible expenses, but at least €2,500. Eligible expenses include personnel, material costs, and notional fees for voluntary engagement up to 10% of total costs. Project durations are up to 12 months, and applications can be submitted continuously until December 31, 2026.
Eligible applicants are legal entities under public law as well as non-profit legal entities under private law. A targeted concept including a detailed project description, financing plan, and proof of legal form (e.g., statutes, extract from the register of associations, tax exemption notice) is required. Furthermore, indicators and evaluation procedures for measuring the achievement of objectives must be presented. Selection is based on relevance to cohesion, quality of the project, and achievement of measurable goals. Submissions are made to the Lower Saxony State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Family. The funding enables forward-looking initiatives that strengthen democratic participation, counteract discrimination, and advance an inclusive society in Lower Saxony.
