Description

The EU funding call HORIZON-CL6-2026-02-CLIMATE-01 targets educational institutions, public bodies, and companies engaged in research and innovation on effective, fair, and coherent climate protection and adaptation policies in agriculture and forestry at the EU level. A total funding amount of up to €6 million per project is available as a non-repayable grant, with a funding rate of up to 100% of eligible costs (personnel costs, travel expenses, consumables). A prerequisite for application is the participation of a consortium consisting of at least three independent entities from different EU Member States or associated countries, as well as the inclusion of disciplines from the social sciences and humanities. The call supports interdisciplinary policy studies and comparative analyses aimed at generating evidence on the effectiveness, fairness, and coherence of existing climate protection and adaptation measures. Key evaluation criteria include scientific excellence, potential for outcomes and impacts, and the quality and efficiency of project implementation. The involvement of policymakers, stakeholders, and European research infrastructures is explicitly encouraged.

Interested consortia can submit their applications by 14 April 2026, including an application form, detailed budget table, dissemination and exploitation plan, as well as an ethics self-assessment. Eligible costs include, inter alia, personnel and material costs related to work on pilot and demonstration projects, data analyses, workshops, and policy briefings. Based on selected milestones and interim results, and taking into account gender mainstreaming and open science principles, EU evaluators will derive recommendations that can contribute to groundbreaking policy measures. The projects are intended to strengthen mutual learning among science, policy, and society and pave the way for sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural and forestry systems in Europe.
