Description
The funding program Environmental Promotion – Land Recycling in Vienna supports public institutions, private individuals, and companies in rethinking currently unused or underutilized sites within the built-up urban area. The goal is to reduce land consumption on the outskirts and thereby contribute to climate and environmental protection. One-time, non-repayable grants are provided for the development of planning concepts, investigations of the subsoil and building fabric, as well as preliminary planning for location-related additional costs. The application period runs from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2029, with funding requests to be submitted prior to commissioning the respective measures.
The program primarily targets municipalities or municipal associations, landowners, as well as natural and legal persons with the consent of the landowners. Requirements include the presence of sites/objects within the built-up urban area and proof that these are currently unused or not utilized according to their location potential. Measures such as renovation, town center revitalization, redesign of public squares, or de-sealing works are not eligible for funding.
