Funding requirements

  • Funding can only be granted once per object.

  • Storage of rainwater must be done using an underground tank.
  • A usable minimum storage volume of 5 m³ must be achieved.
  • Funding requirements must be met until the end of the minimum usage period of 10 years.

Description

The City of Graz provides funding for underground rainwater storage tanks with a co-payment of €250 per m³ of storage volume, up to a maximum amount of €5,000. Eligible applicants include private individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, and public institutions within the city area. Invoices may be issued no earlier than January 1, 2025, and must not be older than three months at the time of application. Only one object per applicant is eligible for funding, which must have an underground tank with a usable minimum volume of 5 m³. The funding requirements must be maintained for a minimum usage period of ten years. Submission must include a fully completed application form, original paid invoices, a project description including details on storage size and intended use, as well as photographic evidence of the installation of the system.

With this grant program, Graz focuses on ecological and climate-friendly urban development. The use of rainwater contributes to reducing drinking water demand, alleviating sewer systems during heavy rainfall events, and strengthening local climate adaptation measures.
