Support for Book Publications

Overview
The Ludwig-Bölkow Foundation, as a non-profit organization, supports innovative book projects nationwide in the fields of energy, sustainability, and science communication. Through flexible subsidies for printing costs and targeted translation funding, it makes specialist and non-fiction books on energy, mobility, and sustainability topics accessible to a broad audience. Applicants – authors and editors – must demonstrate thematic relevance to energy, mobility, and climate protection, a well-founded manuscript, as well as an established distribution and publication concept. A detailed financing plan for printing and translation costs and proof of relevant expertise are mandatory requirements. Only printing and translation costs are funded; retroactive expenses and personnel costs of the applicants are excluded.

Funding Objective and Procedure
The foundation aims to disseminate newly developed findings and practice-oriented expert knowledge in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energies, and science communication. The subsequent online application is available around the clock, as the procedure is processed continuously. Evaluation is based on relevance to sustainability, manuscript quality, and the scope of the publication and distribution concept. Required documents include, in addition to the project description and detailed cost breakdown, a CV or proof of publications. Publication experience strengthens the application. Sufficient funding is continuously available to effectively support selected book projects and thus ensure sustainable knowledge transfer.
