Description

Since 2015, the Marlies and Herbert Repkow Foundation from North Rhine-Westphalia has been committed to advancing cancer research and the training of future medical professionals. Public and non-profit research institutions, universities, as well as oncology departments in clinics can apply for in-kind donations in the form of highly specialized medical and scientific equipment. The goal is to sustainably improve the facilities of research and training centers and thus promote new insights in biomedicine, molecular medicine, and oncology. Support is provided solely through sponsorship and is equally available to institutions, professors, and students; applications can be submitted continuously at any time.

Previously realized grants include laboratory ultra-low temperature freezers for storing samples at –80 °C, flow cytometers for analyzing cellular processes, and high-resolution fluorescence and localization microscopes that make single molecules in cancer cells visible. Through this equipment, in cooperation with Klinikum Bethel, Bielefeld University, and the OWL Medical Faculty, both basic research and practical training are strengthened. The provision of state-of-the-art devices enables scientists and medical professionals to develop innovative therapy strategies and allows patients to benefit from better-founded treatment methods. Interested institutions from NRW can apply for in-kind donations at any time and thus contribute to the fight against cancer.
