Description

The MICHAEL FOUNDATION – a foundation for epilepsy – supports young participants from Germany and other European countries with a VIREPA scholarship, which typically covers 50% of the course fees. Funding is provided for distance learning programs of the Virtual Epilepsy Academy (VIREPA) in the fields of health, education & training, as well as work & social affairs, provided that the participants are unable to finance the entire tuition fees themselves. A prerequisite is prior admission as a course participant at VIREPA and proof of financial need. The funding is aimed at private individuals residing in an EU country and is intended to facilitate access, especially for younger professionals and students, to internationally recognized online courses in epileptology.

Applications for the VIREPA scholarship must be received by the MICHAEL FOUNDATION no later than four weeks before the start of the respective course. For courses in 2026, applications can be submitted starting July 2026. The foundation decides on the award after confirmation of admission by VIREPA and review of the submitted documents. The funding is granted as a one-time subsidy and can be flexibly combined with other scholarships or funding measures. Through this initiative, the MICHAEL FOUNDATION promotes professional exchange and further education of emerging professionals in the European epilepsy field, thereby contributing to the improvement of care and support quality.
