Description
In Vienna, uninsured individuals have access to a comprehensive funding program for preventive medical examinations: The federal government covers the full costs of medical check-ups in accordance with § 132b para. 6 ASVG. As a subsidy, the initiative is aimed at public institutions that conduct preventive examinations for persons without entitlement to benefits from compulsory or voluntary health insurance. The funding rate is 100 percent, and applications can be submitted continuously without a fixed deadline. The examinations can be carried out particularly by contracted physicians, group practices, as well as contracted medical facilities, whereby the documented expenses are reimbursed by the health insurance providers and forwarded to the Main Association. This measure ensures that the lack of insurance entitlements does not become an obstacle to accessing preventive healthcare.
Eligible for funding are persons aged 18 and over with residence or habitual residence in Austria who cannot assert preventive claims through either compulsory or voluntary health insurance and for whom no other state is responsible under Regulation (EC) 883/2004. Likewise, no healthcare institution may assume the costs. The objective of the measure is to guarantee equal access to healthcare and to contribute to strengthening social participation. The Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMASGPK), Section VI, supports equal opportunities in healthcare with this funding and promotes the early detection of health risks. Interested institutions can obtain detailed information about the requirements and application process at any time and secure a funding commitment.
