Description
Under the Scientific Projects funding, subject-specific scientific activities and selected project proposals are supported with grants. The goal is to specifically strengthen the Styrian scientific location, with current thematic priorities of the science department, sustainability, and innovation aspects serving as central selection criteria. Interdisciplinarity and synergistic usability are also incorporated into the evaluation to enable research projects with overarching added value. A special focus is placed on cooperative projects with partners in Eastern Europe to promote cross-border networks in the field of research & innovation. Since its introduction in 2013, the measure has been continuously adapted to current scientific priorities. Thanks to ongoing funding opportunities, applications can be submitted at any time and processed flexibly.
Educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and companies based in Styria are eligible for funding – in particular universities, universities of applied sciences, and scientific institutes. Selection is based on the focus on the Styrian location, the relevance of current research topics, consideration of sustainability and innovation aspects, as well as the quality of interdisciplinary cooperation and synergistic effects. Companies benefit from financial relief in implementing practice-oriented research projects, while research institutions receive targeted impulses for interdisciplinary networking. As a grant, the program supports punctual scientific measures and project proposals that contribute to strengthening regional knowledge and research potential. Detailed requirements depend on the respective call topics and can be viewed on the website of the State of Styria under the funding priority Science.
