Description

The Charité Foundation is initiating Wisskomm@Charité, a long-term funding program that advances targeted competence development in science communication within the Berlin life sciences and university medicine. In a professional training format, aspects such as target group analysis, role understanding, and media selection are rethought and practically tested. The program is aimed at researchers at all career stages at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Through a consistent focus on institution-wide changes and the inclusion of the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) as well as the German Heart Center of the Charité (DHZC), a coordinated approach is created that sustainably professionalizes the internal communication culture.

Over a period of six months, the training module comprises approximately eleven in-person days and is regularly announced internally. Interested scientists can submit an application at any time and benefit from the flexible funding structure. The focus is on establishing a profound understanding of public relations mechanisms, strengthening collaboration with the Corporate Communications division, and imparting practical skills such as on-camera moderation, social media strategies, and clear explanation of complex research findings. In this way, the initiative contributes to increasing the visibility of research results, intensifying dialogue with diverse target groups, and permanently optimizing institutional structures.
