Description

The state of Brandenburg supports recognized forestry associations such as forestry cooperatives, associations, and unions in strengthening their economic independence and ensuring sustainable forest management. The grant is provided as a subsidy based on the GAK framework plan and covers between 40 and 90 percent of eligible expenses depending on the measure. Funding is provided not only for personnel costs of professionally trained forestry staff but also for measures related to professionalization, consolidation and marketing of the timber supply, member information and activation, conclusion of forest maintenance contracts, further education and training, as well as project management. Applicants must be registered with the Test Operations Network Forst-BB, demonstrate recognition as an association under the Federal Forest Act, and submit a properly completed and timely application by September 30 for the following year. Payment requests must be submitted by October 31. Funding rates and maximum amounts vary depending on the funding subject and contract scope, with tiered flat rates per hectare applying to forest maintenance contracts, and total funding per association not exceeding 150,000 euros annually.

Grant recipients benefit from a transparent application and accounting structure: in addition to the electronic member directory, the application form, guidelines, questionnaire, as well as evidence of timber sales, invoices, and payment receipts must be submitted. Services provided by public administrations or supervisory organizations, projects outside Brandenburg, contracts exceeding 200 hectares, and land consolidation procedures under the FlurbG are not eligible. By promoting long-term forest maintenance contracts, targeted information and activation measures, and projects improving structural conditions, the market position and ecological function of private forest owners are sustainably strengthened. The granting authority reviews applications at its discretion and subject to the availability of budgetary funds.
