About the funder
The Akademie Mitteldeutsche Kunststoffinnovationen (AMK) is a legally recognized foundation under private law based in Merseburg. Founded in December 2007 by professors from the Kunststoff-Kompetenzzentrum Halle-Merseburg, Polykum e.V., as well as the affiliated institutes Institut für Polymerwerkstoffe e.V. and Polymer Service GmbH Merseburg, the AMK promotes science, research, and continuing education in the field of polymer sciences and plastics engineering. Its responsibilities include the transfer of research to industry, awarding research contracts and scholarships, supporting young scientists, organizing scientific events, and expanding and maintaining scientific infrastructure.

Mission & Vision
The AMK is committed to promoting outstanding achievements in research and teaching in the field of plastics engineering. Its goal is to support scientists and students both ideologically and materially, to strengthen the transfer of knowledge and technology between universities and industry, and to foster young talent in Central Germany through events and scholarships.
Target groups
The funding programs of AMK are aimed at trainees, students (Bachelor's, Master's), and doctoral candidates in the field of plastics engineering and polymer sciences; early-career researchers pursuing doctoral and habilitation projects; high school graduates from Merseburg and the surrounding area who wish to begin studies in plastics engineering at Merseburg University of Applied Sciences; as well as small and medium-sized enterprises in the plastics manufacturing and processing industry in Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, and Thuringia.
