About the funder

The Albert and Loni Simon Foundation is a legal, non-profit foundation under civil law, established in 1989 from the estate of Albert Simon (1883–1969) and Loni Simon (1898–1989) in Mainz. Its goal is to enable elderly residents of Mainz to live as independently and autonomously as possible in old age. The foundation finances and supports, among other things, day care centers for the elderly, social service stations, and scientific awards (Willi Abts Promotion Prize) in Mainz, and operates on a voluntary basis through a board of trustees and an executive board. It is a member of the Association of German Foundations and MAGUS (Mainz Working Group of Independent Foundations).
