About the funder

The Alexander Otto Sportstiftung was founded in 2006 and has since supported over 500 projects with a funding volume of approximately €38 million. The focus of the non-profit foundation is the promotion of sports clubs, associations, and schools in Hamburg, particularly to strengthen youth and inclusive sports as well as to promote the Olympic and Paralympic ideals. Additionally, the foundation awards the Werner Otto Prize in 16 editions for exemplary commitment in sports.

Mission & Vision

Target groups

Non-profit sports clubs, associations, and schools based in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg are supported. Special emphasis is placed on projects that promote the Olympic spirit, enable participation for socially disadvantaged families and people with disabilities, and support young people in their athletic and personal development.
