ALTERNAID Stiftung

The ALTERNAID Foundation for People in Need is a non-profit private foundation established in 2007 by the owner of ALTERNATE GmbH. It operates both operationally and as a grant provider, supporting people in need domestically and abroad – with a focus on children, adolescents, and their families. The foundation supports projects that secure basic existential needs, improve health and family care, and promote education, school, and vocational training. Guided by the principle of "help for self-help," it works personally, unbureaucratically, and fully to ensure that donations reach those in need without detours.

Our goal is to enable people in need – especially children, adolescents, and their family members – to live a dignified life with prospects for the future. We believe in the transformative power of aid for self-help and support projects that are sustainable, transparent, and future-oriented. We place great value on personal contact with project leaders and on long-term self-financing after the funding period has ended.

The funding programs of the ALTERNAID Foundation are aimed at smaller, non-profit aid projects at home and abroad that focus on particularly vulnerable groups – especially children and young people as well as their families. Projects with a model or pilot character, voluntary engagement, and a clear concept for sustainable self-administration that avoids financial dependency are supported.
