The Department of Child and Youth Welfare is a specialized division of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Health at the Office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government. Under the leadership of Hofrat Mag. Theresia Schlöglmann, it is responsible for the legally mandated field of child and youth welfare. As the competent authority, the department coordinates measures for the promotion, care, and protection of children, adolescents, and their families. It develops funding programs such as recreational activities for socially disadvantaged children and youth, scholarships in social pedagogy, and supports public and non-profit child and youth welfare organizations.

Our mission is to provide children and young people in Upper Austria with a safe, supportive environment. We strengthen parenting skills, promote equal opportunities, and advocate for non-violent, responsible, and socially competent individuals. Through tailored support and professional guidance, we aim to sustainably secure the quality of life for young people and their families.

The Department of Child and Youth Welfare targets children and adolescents in Upper Austria, particularly those from socially disadvantaged families as well as single parents and their children. It also supports families in need of assistance and promotes non-profit organizations and public institutions that provide recreational, care, and socio-educational specialized services.
