About the funder
The Department of Economy and Research is part of the Directorate for Regional Planning, Economic and Rural Development within the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government. It is responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of funding programs aimed at strengthening economic development and innovation capacity in Upper Austria. Its tasks include managing regional funding (e.g., business innovation support, Horizon Europe application readiness, research cooperations), advising companies and research institutions, as well as close collaboration with chambers and networks to specifically support investments, research, and development in the state.

Mission & Vision
The mission statement of the Department of Economy and Research is to promote sustainable growth and enhance innovation capacity in Upper Austria. Through targeted funding measures and collaborative partnerships with businesses and research institutions, regional competitiveness is to be strengthened and a dynamic environment for forward-looking projects created.
Target groups
The funding programs are aimed at companies of all sizes with headquarters or a primary physical location in Upper Austria, particularly members of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce (divisions Industry, Trade and Crafts, Information and Consulting), as well as research and development institutions that implement cooperative R&D projects in Upper Austria. Additionally, cluster and network initiatives, start-ups, and SMEs are supported when collaborating with research institutions for the first time.
