The Office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government, Directorate for Environment and Water Management, Department of Water Management / Flood Protection Group, is the technically responsible administrative authority for water management matters in Upper Austria. Within the framework of the Environmental Funding for Aquatic Ecology (UFG-Aquatic Ecology), it acts as the regional submission office and is responsible for advising, administrative processing, reviewing, and approving funding applications aimed at strengthening water protection and flood protection. The Directorate works closely with the Federal Ministry and Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC) and ensures that funding is used effectively for the protection and sustainable development of water bodies in Upper Austria.

Our mission is to promote aquatic ecology and flood protection in Upper Austria through efficient funding programs and expert advice. We are committed to sustainably preserving water resources, enhancing ecological functions, and supporting the public as well as municipal partners in measures for water protection. In doing so, we place great importance on transparency, expertise, and close cooperation with all stakeholders.

The target group consists of municipalities, communities, associations, companies, and other applicants in Upper Austria who apply for funding in the field of aquatic ecology and flood protection. In particular, water management planning authorities and operators of watercourse and flood protection projects benefit, aiming to improve ecological and safety-related aspects of Upper Austria's flowing waters.
