Mission & Vision
The AWO Foundation Active for Hamburg is committed to fostering greater community and solidarity in Hamburg. With heart and mind, it supports where help is most urgently needed and contributes to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged people. Its goal is to reduce the social divide in the city and to enable aging with dignity.
Target groups
The foundation’s funding programs are specifically aimed at elderly people in Hamburg with low incomes and health limitations, who often live isolated in their homes. Within the framework of the "Aktion Augen Auf!" initiative, they are supported by district coordinators in the neighborhoods of Eimsbüttel, Lokstedt, Stellingen, Schnelsen, Steilshoop, Barmbek-Nord, Altona-Nord, and Lurup. The foundation coordinates visits, arranges everyday assistance, and ensures social participation.
