About the funder
The Bavarian Hospice Foundation is a legal foundation under civil law based in Bayreuth. It was established in 1999 by the Free State of Bavaria, the Bavarian Hospice and Palliative Care Association, the Christophorus Hospice Association, and the Order of the Brothers of Mercy. The foundation promotes the hospice concept in Bavaria through financial support of hospice associations, training and further education of hospice volunteers, promotion of networking and research, as well as the organization of professional conferences. Administration is handled by the Center for Bavaria Family and Social Affairs (ZBFS). Well-known programs include volunteer support, the 1-Euro program, basic training support, and individual funding.

Mission & Vision
The Bavarian Hospice Foundation promotes the hospice concept in Bavaria and supports the further expansion of hospice facilities and palliative care units. It is committed to ensuring that seriously ill and dying people, as well as their relatives, receive dignified care and support—through volunteer engagement, professional training and continuing education, and the societal anchoring of hospice culture.
Target groups
Only Bavarian hospice associations and non-profit organizations involved in hospice work are funded. Support is provided for measures related to the training and further education of volunteer hospice companions, public relations, supervision, intercultural hospice work, as well as projects for special target groups (people with disabilities, homeless individuals, migrants). Geographical focus: Free State of Bavaria.
