About the funder

The Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism (StMELF) is the highest state authority in Bavaria responsible for the areas of food, agriculture, forestry, cultural landscapes, and tourism. Within its remit, it consolidates tasks to ensure high-quality and environmentally sustainable food production, the care and sustainable management of forests and rural areas, as well as the strengthening of Bavaria as a tourism destination. To this end, the Ministry develops and shapes the framework conditions at the state, federal, and EU levels, advises local stakeholders, promotes vocational training, further education, and continuing education in agricultural, forestry, and domestic professions, and focuses on research, innovation, and regional partnerships.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to create forward-looking and sustainable framework conditions that strengthen agriculture and forestry, food security, rural development, and tourism in Bavaria. We are committed to economically, ecologically, and socially balanced practices, promote innovation and knowledge exchange, support enterprises with tailored programs, and thus contribute to mutual appreciation between producers and consumers.

Target groups

The funding and advisory services of the StMELF are aimed at agricultural and forestry enterprises of all sizes, fruit and wine-growing businesses, foresters, tourism stakeholders, and municipal institutions in rural areas. The target group is complemented by trainees, vocational students, and continuing education participants in agricultural, forestry, and domestic science professions, as well as research institutions and non-governmental organizations active in the aforementioned fields.
