Bildungsdirektion für Niederösterreich

The Educational Directorate for Lower Austria is the supervisory regional authority for the school system in the state of Lower Austria. It was established on January 1, 2019, based on the Education Reform Act 2017 and is responsible for the organization, funding, and quality assurance of a total of 1,158 schools with approximately 200,000 students and around 23,000 educators. As a modern regional authority, it supports schools, teachers, students, and parents through service offerings, consultation, the implementation of decrees and funding measures, as well as regional support, and serves as a central interface between the Federal Ministry and regional educational practice.

The Bildungsdirektion für Niederösterreich sees itself as a forward-looking organization with the goal of providing optimal support to educators and creating the best possible school conditions for students. It promotes innovations, individual educational and support concepts, and accompanies reform initiatives in the federal state to ensure high educational quality in the long term.

The target groups of the Educational Directorate for Lower Austria include all public schools in Lower Austria, teachers and school staff, students, as well as their legal guardians. Furthermore, the information and support services are aimed at individuals interested in education, municipal and higher-level authorities, as well as partner organizations requiring advice, funding, and legal certainty in the school system.
