About the funder

The Borussia Foundation was established on August 1, 2010, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Borussia Mönchengladbach club and constitutes a central pillar of the club. As the largest sports club in the Mönchengladbach region, Borussia is committed to its social responsibility. The foundation particularly supports projects in the areas of community and participation, health and prevention, as well as educational opportunities. To date, more than 220 projects have been financially supported with around 1.7 million euros. Its statutory purpose is the promotion of sports-related social measures for the integration of young people into society, as well as the support of civic and church engagement for charitable and benevolent causes in accordance with the published funding guidelines.

Mission & Vision

The Borussia Foundation is committed to strengthening social cohesion in the Mönchengladbach region and promoting equal opportunities. Through targeted financial support of sports-related initiatives, it aims to accompany young people in their integration process, expand health-promoting and preventive services, and improve access to education. In doing so, the foundation works closely with local partners and sees itself as a catalyst for sustainably effective projects.

Target groups

Non-profit organizations, associations, and initiatives in the Mönchengladbach region are supported, which implement projects for the social integration of youth, promote community, and offer health-related or educational prevention measures. The focus is on initiatives that use sports as a unifying element and strengthen civil society as well as church engagement.
