About the funder
The Briloner Bürgerstiftung is an independent civic foundation, economically, politically, and denominationally autonomous, based in Brilon. It was established in November 2006 by 40 founding donors and has increased its initial endowment of €112,000 to over one million euros to date. The foundation serves the public good in Brilon and the 16 surrounding villages, promoting charitable projects in the fields of education, upbringing, youth, sports, culture, monument preservation, environmental protection, local heritage, and international understanding. From the proceeds of its endowment, it annually provides funding and sustainably supports local initiatives, associations, and institutions.

Mission & Vision
The Briloner Bürgerstiftung sees itself as a collective effort of all citizens of Brilon as well as local businesses. Its goal is to mobilize forces of innovation and civic initiative in order to actively shape the community. Through the acquisition of endowments, donations, and committed volunteer activities, it aims to provide impetus for sustainable projects and to promote social, cultural, and ecological life in the region.
Target groups
Funding is provided to citizens, non-profit associations, initiatives, institutions, and companies from the city of Brilon and its districts. Eligible to apply are primarily project sponsors who demonstrate a high level of voluntary commitment, non-profit orientation, and exemplary character, and who contribute to the common good, education, culture, environmental or heritage preservation, as well as to international understanding in the region.
