About the funder
The Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Hamburg mbH (MBG Hamburg) is an economic development institution supported by the federal and state governments in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Since 1970, it has provided small and medium-sized enterprises with registered offices and investment locations in Hamburg with equity capital in the form of silent partnerships to finance various stages of their development. Its products include growth and investment financing, HamburgInnoGrowth (HIG), the Micro-Mezzanine Fund Germany, as well as early-stage financing. In doing so, it strengthens the equity base, improves creditworthiness and rating, and expands the financing scope of its portfolio companies under business-friendly conditions.

Mission & Vision
MBG Hamburg sees itself as a reliable financing partner for Hamburg's small and medium-sized enterprises. Its goal is to strengthen the equity base of small and medium-sized companies, improve their balance sheet structure, and ensure long-term planning security as well as entrepreneurial independence. The focus is not on maximizing returns, but on the sustainable and successful development of the supported companies.
Target groups
The target group of MBG Hamburg consists of small and medium-sized enterprises from all sectors with their registered office and investment location in Hamburg. Funding is provided for both start-ups and newly founded companies as well as established businesses in growth, buy-out, and succession phases. Special programs such as the Micro-Mezzanine Fund Germany additionally target start-ups from unemployment, those founded by people with a migration background, women-led companies, as well as ecologically sustainable and socially oriented enterprises.
