About the funder
The BÜRGER-STIFTUNG-GRAFENAU was established in 2003 as a foundation under civil law and is subject to the legal supervision of the Stuttgart Regional Council. It is a member of the Association of German Foundations and pursues exclusively charitable and benevolent purposes. The foundation sees itself as an initiative of active citizens in Grafenau: with the proceeds from the endowment capital and donations, it supports projects that strengthen intergenerational coexistence, youth work, and the assistance of needy fellow citizens. All board members and helpers work on a voluntary basis; the foundation’s board decides on funding applications and projects in accordance with the statutes.

Mission & Vision
"By citizens, for citizens, through citizens" – under this guiding principle, the BÜRGER-STIFTUNG-GRAFENAU strives to promote social awareness and action within the community. The goal is to connect generations through civic engagement and collective initiatives, support people in need, and sustainably improve the quality of life in Grafenau.
Target groups
The funding opportunities are aimed at all citizens of the municipality of Grafenau and the surrounding villages. The focus is on needy fellow citizens of all age groups, children and adolescents (e.g., reading hours and school support programs at Dätzingen Elementary School and Döffingen Community School), elderly people (e.g., courses for fall prevention, Citizens' Café), as well as volunteers and local clubs (e.g., collaborations with TSV Grafenau and the Schaffhausen Sports Club).
