Bürgerstiftung Remscheid

Non-profit organization

About the funder

The Bürgerstiftung Remscheid was founded in October 2000 to encourage citizens and companies to engage sustainably and charitably in the city of Remscheid. The foundation supports cultural, educational, social, and environmental projects both ideologically and materially and provides immediate assistance for self-help. In addition to its own initiatives, it supports local institutions such as the Vocational Training Center for the Metal and Electrical Industry (BZI), the Teo Otto Theater, and the Bergische Symphoniker through sponsorships and funding grants.

Mission & Vision

As an independent community institution, the Bürgerstiftung Remscheid aims to create an autonomous force that fills gaps not covered by politics and business. Its goal is to permanently build capital for charitable purposes in order to initiate and sustainably secure projects in the fields of youth and elderly care, education, science, art and culture, environmental and nature conservation, as well as international understanding.

Target groups

The foundation addresses private individuals and companies who wish to participate in the foundation's capital through endowments (from €1,500) or donations (from €1); time donors who voluntarily contribute their expertise and labor to projects and administration; as well as companies and public institutions that support the non-profit work as project partners, sponsors, or members of the circle of friends with an annual contribution (from €50).
