About the funder

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) is the federal ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany that is primarily responsible for implementing the European Social Fund programs (ESF Plus) at the federal level. As the managing authority for the ESF, BMAS coordinates measures to improve labor market opportunities, promotes vocational education and active inclusion, as well as the social integration of disadvantaged individuals. It develops funding guidelines, is responsible for overall strategic management, and drives the digital transformation of ESF administration. The seat of the ESF managing authority within BMAS is located in Bonn (Rochusstraße 1, 53123 Bonn).

Target groups

The programs funded by the BMAS through the European Social Fund (ESF Plus) target employees and workers, unemployed individuals, educational institutions, start-ups, families, universities, youth and young adults, municipalities, people aged 60 and above, persons with a migration background, self-employed individuals, companies, associations, as well as homeless persons. These groups are supported through qualification offers, activation measures, and projects aimed at securing skilled labor and promoting social participation.
