About the funder

The Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport (BMWKMS) is a supreme federal authority of the Republic of Austria. Within its Sports Section (Section II), the ministry is responsible for the conception, coordination, and implementation of federal sports funding in accordance with the Sports Funding Act 2017. It is divided into several departments for Sports Strategy and Society (II/1), EU and International Sports Affairs (II/2), Legal and Participation Management (II/3), Youth, Performance and Elite Sports as well as Sports Science and Technology (II/4), and Health, School and Recreational Sports (II/5). Section II manages the allocation of funds for elite sports projects, recreational sports initiatives, and innovative funding programs related to integration, inclusion, and equality in sports.
